  • Allahabad High Court Sees Response to Shahi Jama Masjid Committee’s Plea Challenged

    • The Allahabad High Court is seeking a response from the Union and State governments, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and local authorities on a plea by the Shahi Jama Masjid committee in Sambhal.

    • The trial court had ordered an Advocate Commissioner to survey the mosque, amidst a suit claiming it was built after destroying a temple.

    • The Supreme Court had stayed the trial court proceedings until the petition filed by the mosque committee against the survey order is listed in the Allahabad High Court.

    • The local court in Sambhal ordered a survey of the Mughal-era mosque on November 19, following a petition demanding the right to access the mosque.

    • Violence erupted in Sambhal on November 24, leading to five deaths and several injuries.
