As the big cat population grows, M.P. will create buffer zones around its 9 tiger reserves.
• Approved for a total outlay of ₹145 crore for the financial years 2025-26 and 2027-28.
• Key activities include installing chain-link fencing in ecologically sensitive buffer areas, developing grasslands and water resources, and implementing wildlife protection and fire safety measures.
• The scheme also includes health monitoring and treatment of wild animals, and skill development training programs for local communities.
• Madhav National Park became the ninth tiger reserve in the State, the highest among all States.
• Tiger population in buffer zones surrounding Madhya Pradesh’s nine reserves has increased from 526 to 785 over the past four years.
