“Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, 2024” Festival to Honor Eight Northeastern States

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the “Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, 2024” festival in New Delhi.

• The three-day event will showcase the cultural, social, and economic fabric of the eight northeastern states.

• The festival will provide an unprecedented platform for the region’s vibrant textile industry, artisanal crafts, and Geographical Indication (GI) products.

• The states, also known as “Ashtalakshmi” or eight forms of prosperity, significantly contribute to India’s cultural, social, and economic fabric.

• The event is expected to foster long-term business relationships between northeast’s artisans and buyers.

• The Ministry has set up five task forces to analyze and improve the value chain of local products.
