    • Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma orders a shoot-at-sight to check communal tension in Dhubri town.

    • He accuses Bangladeshi groups of “organised attempts to incite communal violence.”

    • The town has been on edge since the severed head of a cow was found in front of a Hanuman Temple on June 8.

    • The order applies to any illegal activities, including stone-pelting.

    • The Chief Minister claims a series of events aimed at stoking communal violence indicates a Bangladeshi force is at work in Dhubri.

    • He accuses fundamentalist forces in Bangladesh of targeting the district for a long time.

    • Sarma orders the arrest of all known criminals in the district and a new network of cattle smugglers.
