    Bangladesh Requests US Assistance for Interim Government Reforms

    • Chief Adviser Prof. Mohammed Yunus briefed the U.S. delegation on the situation in Bangladesh after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government.
    • The interim government has constituted six commissions to reform various sectors of the state, including the judiciary, police, election commission, and constitution.
    • The visit is the first high-level U.S. delegation to visit Bangladesh after Sheikh Hasina’s fall.
    • The meeting also covered ongoing labor unrest, the Rohingya crisis, and Yunus’ upcoming visit to New York.
    • A major outcome of the visit was the signing of a deal between the U.S. Agency for International Development and Bangladesh, paving the way for a $200 million grant to Dhaka.
