Bangladeshi Fighters Recall India’s Support during 1971 War
• The 53rd Vijay Diwas celebrations were held at Fort William in Kolkata, attended by a nine-member Bangladesh delegation.
• The Bangladesh delegation included eight mukti joddhas and Brigadier General Mohammed Aminur Rahman.
• The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command was Lt. General Ram Chandra Tewari, the senior most Indian Army officer.
• Members of the Bangladesh delegation shared their memories of the 1971 Bangladesh War of Liberation and the role of the Indian Army and its leadership.
• Major General Abdus Salam Chaudhary, a mukti joddha, recalled India’s support and continued support, stating their relationship is unique.
• Lieutenant Colonel Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir expressed hope for the political situation in Bangladesh to improve and appreciate any assistance for the betterment of people.
