Bihar Cabinet Approves Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana for Women Entrepreneurs

• The Bihar Cabinet approved the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, providing financial aid to one woman from every family to start a business.

• The first instalment, ₹10,000, will be released from next month.

• An additional ₹2 lakh will be given after six months of evaluation of women’s entrepreneurial ventures.

• The first instalment will be transferred into women’s bank accounts from September.

• The scheme aims to strengthen women and create better employment opportunities.

• Haat bazars will be developed in villages and towns to boost the sales of women-made products.

• The government has previously implemented schemes for women’s empowerment, including reservation of 50% in rural and urban local bodies in 2006 and 2007, and liquor prohibition in 2016.

• The government also launched schemes to “educationally empower” women, especially girls, including school uniforms, bicycles, and scholarships at Classes 10, 12, and graduation levels.
