Youth Commission in India: Role and Responsibilities
• The commission will advise the government on improving youth status and coordinate with government departments for better education and employment.
• It will monitor youth’s priority in private sector employment and protect their interests.
• The commission will prepare programs for alcohol and drug prevention and send recommendations to the government.
• The aim is to make youth self-reliant, skilled, and employment-oriented.
• The commission will have a chairman, two vice-presidents, and seven members, with a maximum age of 45.
• The government has also approved the “Mukhya Mantri Divyangjan Sashaktikaran Yojana (Sambal)” scheme, providing ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh as incentives to persons with disabilities for clearing the preliminary test of the BPSC and UPSC.
• The government has also sanctioned ₹100 crore as diesel subsidy for irrigation of crops in the current financial year 2025-26.
