Bird flu: A.P. declares four biosecurity zones.
• The Andhra Pradesh government has declared four biosecurity zones due to bird flu outbreaks.
• The zones are Badampudi in Eluru district, Velpuru and Kanuru in West Godavari district, and Gampalagudem in NTR district.
• Security restrictions are imposed in three layers:’red zone’ (one-km radius from bird flu hotspot),’surveillance area’ (one-km to 10-km), and’red zone’ (no restrictions on mobility beyond 10 km).
• District Collectors, Animal Husbandry, Medical and Health officials are instructed to monitor the situation hourly.
• T. Damodar Naidu, Director of Animal Husbandry, attributed the bird flu outbreak to migratory birds.
