Border Security Force Continues Fencing along International Border at Kaliachak

• Border Security Force (BSF) continues fencing along the international border at Kaliachak, Malda district, despite objections from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

• The Central Public Works Division began erecting a fence in Sukdebpur area under block Kaliachak 3, which BGB objected to.

• The area falls under BSF’s South Bengal Frontier and the fence is inside Indian territory.

• BSF issued a rebuttal to reports alleging BGB had taken control of a 5-km stretch of Indian land along the border.

• Swapan Majumdar, the BJP MLA from Bongaon South, visited the area and spoke to BSF officials and villagers.
