Calls for Permanent National Commission for Denotified Tribes (DNTs)

• Denotified Tribes (DNTs) are calling for a permanent national commission.

• BJP OBC Morcha chief and Rajya Sabha MP K. Laxman met with community leaders at a national conference in New Delhi.

• The call was centered on the establishment of a permanent national commission for communities declared “criminal” under the colonial government.

• Community leaders urged Laxman to address these issues in the House and with the Government.

• The conference was organized by the Development and Welfare Board for DNT communities.

• The Idate Commission, led by Bhiku Ramji Idate, submitted a report on actions for DNT community protection and development in 2018.
