Calls for the ex-Navy official’s return rise before Emir’s visit.

• Seven former Indian Navy officials, who returned from nearly 18 months in Doha, have called for the repatriation of the last remaining Indian in Qatar.
• The officials, who were employed with Dahra Global, were arrested in August 2022 and were given death sentences in October 2023.
• The death sentence was commuted to imprisonment of varying timespan in December 2023.
• The eight former officials returned in February 2024, just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Qatar.
• Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani’s visit to India is expected to focus on the Israel-Palestine crisis.
