CCI has requested records from UltraTech and Dalmia regarding alleged cartelisation.
• CCI has directed UltraTech, a subsidiary of India Cements, and two other cement makers to submit financial documents following an investigation.
• The investigation found contravention of competition norms by Ultratech’s subsidiary India Cements, Shree Digvijay Cement, and Dalmia Cement.
• The firms were also directed to submit audited financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss accounts, within eight weeks.
• The CCI has also directed executives to submit detailed financials and income tax records for five years, along with formal responses to the investigation report.
• Dalmia Bharat, the cement manufacturer, has not responded to the CCI’s order.
• The CCI’s order came over a complaint filed by ONGC alleging cartelisation in its tenders.
