Charges Filed in R.G. Kar Case
• Charges against Sanjay Roy, a civic police volunteer, have been filed in the R.G. Kar case.
• The charges were framed under Sections 64, 66, and 103 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
• The charges were framed in the chamber of the Additional District Judge, Sealdah.
• Roy, the only person charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), was arrested a day after the crime.
• The case was transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court is also hearing the matter.
• Roy claimed innocence while being taken out of the court premises.
• The case has been transferred to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court.
• The CBI has alleged tampering of evidence against former principals of the R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, and former officer-in-charge of the Tala police station, Abhijit Mondal.
• The court extended their remand in judicial custody till November 18.
• Civil rights groups have organized protests demanding justice for the victim.
