China and India start to pull away
• India and China have reached broad consensus to restore ground situation along the LAC, based on equal and mutual security principles.
• The disengagement is focusing on two remaining friction points at Depsang and Demchok, with no change in status at other points where disengagement has already been undertaken.
• Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that disengagement agreements were not reopened in these discussions.
• Chinese troops have been blocking Indian patrols in the strategic Depsang plains, preventing access to Patrolling Points (PP) 10, 11, 11A, 12, and 13.
• The disengagement will allow the Army to resume patrols in this area.
