    • The national suicide rate was 12.4 per lakh people in 2022, while in CISF, it was reduced to 9.87 per lakh people in 2024.

    • The CISF’s suicide rate has fallen below the national rate for the first time in the last five years.

    • Commanding officers conducted daily “briefing-debriefing” to identify and address signs of distress.

    • The CISF introduced an online grievance portal for timely monitoring and resolution of grievances.

    • A comprehensive mental health study was conducted in collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi, and actionable recommendations are being implemented at the unit level.

    • The issue of suicide in India has escalated over the years, with suicide rates rising from 9.9 per lakh population in 2017 to 12.4 per lakh in 2022.
