Dalit Voters in Bihar Fear Unemployment as Big Poll Issue
• A survey by the National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Associations (NACDAOR) revealed that over 27.4% of Dalit voters in Bihar have “no trust” in the Election Commission (EC).
• The survey, conducted between June 10 and July 4, covered 18,581 SC voters across the State.
• Over 71% of respondents expressed fear of losing their vote in the new voter list.
• Over 27% of respondents did not trust the EC to be impartial.
• Over 47.5% of respondents preferred Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 40.3% preferred Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and about 12% preferred other politicians.
• 33.15% of respondents credited Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, and about 8% other politicians for the caste census.
• 48% of respondents rated the Nitish Kumar-led government’s work as “bad”, while 45% rated it as “good”.
