Dalits Access to T.N. Temple Post Peace Talks
• Residents of Vazhudambedu Colony in Gummidipoondi taluk, Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, were granted entry to Arulmigu Pidari Ettiamman temple after it was reopened.
• The villagers, mostly Scheduled Castes, were denied entry last month due to a kumbhabhishekam conducted by caste Hindus.
• District Collector T. Prabhushankar explained the dispute arose after the Adi Dravidars were denied access to the temple.
• The temple, under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, was sealed to avoid law and order issues.
