Delhi’s Women’s Safety Gaps: NARI 2025 Report

• Over 30% of women in Delhi report women-friendly infrastructure as minimal or non-existent.

• Delhi ranked 28th on the women’s safety index, indicating a serious concern for women’s safety.

• Nationally, the figure stood at 23%.

• 41% of women felt unsafe in deserted spaces, unlit areas, high crime rates, and public behavior.

• Daytime safety was 8%, nighttime safety was 35%.

• Delhi recorded a higher incidence of harassment in public spaces compared to the national average.

• 61% of Delhi women reported harassment more than twice, indicating systemic lapses in deterring repeat offenders.

• Nearby areas and transport facilities were most frequently cited as sites of harassment.

• 51% of women demanded more policing and 17% called for timely and proper police action.

• Cities with higher rankings than the national average include Kohima, Visakhapatnam, Aizawl, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Itanagar, and Mumbai.
