    India-Namibia Relations: A New Dimension

    • India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasizes the importance of partnership and dialogue in a future defined by partnership and dialogue.

    • He emphasizes that Africa should not just be a raw material source but a leader in value creation and sustainable growth.

    • India is ready to expand its cooperation with Africa in defence and security, valuing shared growth and purpose.

    • Modi highlights the strong historical and cultural ties between India and Namibia, highlighting India’s cheetah reintroduction program and readiness to supply Namibia with a radiotherapy machine.

    • The bilateral trade has crossed $800 million, and the Prime Minister was awarded Namibia’s highest civilian award, the ‘Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis’.

    • The meeting focuses on bolstering bilateral cooperation in areas such as digital technology, defence, security, agriculture, healthcare, education, and critical minerals.

    • India and Namibia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on setting up an Entrepreneurship Development Centre in Namibia and pacts on cooperation in health and medicine.
