DRDO Successfully Tests Multi-Layer Air Defence System

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted maiden flight tests of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the coast of Odisha.

• IADWS is a multi-layered air defence system comprising indigenous Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles (QRSAM), Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles, and a high-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW).

• Three different targets, including two UAV targets and a multi-copter drone, were engaged and destroyed by the QRSAM, VSHORADS, and high-energy laser weapon system.

• All weapon system components performed flawlessly, confirmed by range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur.
