    • At the end of December 2024, the Centre’s fiscal deficit reached 56.7% of the annual target.

    • The deficit was ₹9,14,089 crore during April-December 2024-25.

    • The deficit was 55% of the Budget Estimates (BE) of 2023-24 in the previous year.

    • The central government’s tax revenue was ₹18.43 lakh crore, 71.3% of the BE of 2024-25.

    • The total expenditure was ₹32.32 lakh crore, 67% of the BE.

    • The Union Budget projected to reduce the fiscal deficit to 4.9% of GDP.
