EU proposes further deforestation enforcement deadline

• European Commission (EC) proposes to extend deforestation regulation implementation by a year.
• Large companies to comply by December 30, 2025, small and micro-enterprises by June 30, 2026.
• Major agriculture-exporting countries, including Brazil, India, Indonesia, and the U.S., raised objections to the EU Deforestation Regulation.
• The EUDR aims to prevent import of certain goods contributing to deforestation and forest degradation.
• Products covered include coffee, leather, oil cake, wood furniture, paper, and paperboard.
