• Total trade deficit in India increased to $8.65 billion in April 2025, up from $5.77 billion in the previous year.
• Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal reported India’s highest total exports at $824.9 billion in 2024-25, a 6% increase from 2023-24.
• Merchandise exports grew 9% to $38.49 billion, while imports of goods grew 19.1% to $64.91 billion.
• The merchandise trade deficit widened to $26.4 billion in April 2025, up from $19.19 billion in 2021.
• The services sector saw exports widening their lead over imports.
