Farmer leaders and the Centre have a “good” meeting, plan to meet again on Feb. 22.
• Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher met in Chandigarh to discuss demands, including a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) on crops.
• The meeting was held in a “positive atmosphere” and the next meeting has been scheduled for February 22.
• The meeting follows four rounds of inconclusive discussions last year, where the Centre offered to procure five crops at MSP for five years based on contracts, but farmers declined.
• Farmers under the KMM and SKM banner have been camping at the inter-State boundaries between Haryana and Punjab since February 13 last year.
