Floods threaten Bihar districts after water discharge.
• Bihar government has issued an alert for floods in several districts due to swollen rivers like Kosi, Gandak, and Ganga.
• The release of water from Valmikinagar and Birpur barrages on Saturday may exacerbate the situation of over 13.5 lakh people in 12 districts already affected by heavy rain.
• The highest discharge of water from Birpur Barrage on Kosi River was 5.31 lakh cusecs, the highest in 56 years.
• The excess water has entered low-lying areas of West and East Champaran districts.
• The State Disaster Management Department (IMD) has warned of flash floods in parts of the State.
• The IMD has asked the administration of the districts to remain on alert and take preventive measures.
