• The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) plays a crucial role in recruitment.

• Women have made history in the UPSC Civil Services examination.

Way Forward

• Article 312 of the Constitution empowers Parliament to create new All-India Services.

• Examination should be open to all Indians, conducted by the UPSC, and selected individuals should work under the control of the Supreme Court or High Court.
