‘Govt. intends to seal the initial tranche of trade accord with the US by July 9’
• The Indian government is aiming to complete an initial tranche of the India-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement by July 9, and a wider first tranche by Fall of 2025.
• The U.S. team was in India for six days of negotiations from June 6-11.
• Commerce Secretary Sunil Berthwal expressed hope of completing an early, abridged tranche by July 9, after which Trump’s reciprocal tariffs would resume.
• The India-U.K. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is on track to complete the legal scrub of the text and finalize it in three months.
• The India-EU FTA talks are also gaining momentum, with the next round scheduled for July 7.
