Gyan Bharatam Mission to Sign Memorandums of Understanding with 20 Institutes

• The Gyan Bharatam Mission, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Culture, will sign Memorandums of Understanding with around 20 institutes across India for manuscript conservation, upkeep, and digitization.

• The institutes will be categorized into Cluster Centres and Independent Centres.

• Cluster Centres will execute all manuscript-related activities of their own centre and those of its designated Cluster Partner Centres.

• Independent Centres will execute all manuscript-related activities pertaining solely to their own collection.

• Gyan Bharatam will provide the overarching framework, guidance, monitoring, and support for the execution of activities under this partnership.

• The activities to be provided by the institutes with GB’s support include survey and cataloguing, conservation and capacity building, technology and digitisation, linguistics and translation, research, publication, and outreach.

• The Centres have been asked to constitute a dedicated Gyan Bharatam Cell experienced in each vertical.

• Funds will be released in phased instalments in accordance with the implementation schedule and milestones outlined in the approved work plan.
