  • India-Bangladesh Bus Services Suspended Amid Relations Unease

    • Diplomatic unease between India and Bangladesh following Sheikh Hasina’s ousting has affected bilateral relations, including bus services.

    • The Agartala-Dhaka bus service, established in 2003, came to a halt due to student-led protests in Bangladesh.

    • The Agartala-Dhaka-Kolkata bus service, launched in 2015, has also been put on hold.

    • The suspension is attributed to fewer visas issued by both countries.

    • The closure of the office of ‘Shymali Paribahan’, an affiliate of the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation, in Agartala.

    • The current state of bilateral ties raises concerns about the future of the Agartala-Akhaura (Bangladesh) rail project.
