  • Indian Election Commission (EC) Claims Foreigners Found in Bihar Rolls

    • The EC reported that a significant number of people from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar were found during house-to-house verification of electoral rolls in Bihar.

    • The names of these individuals will not be included in the final voter list, set to be published on September 30.

    • The SIR process began on June 25 and the last date for submitting enumeration forms is July 25.

    • The EC plans to conduct an inquiry after the release of the draft list.

    • The move is significant due to upcoming Assembly polls in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu.

    • Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) leaders have criticized the EC for alleged contradictions and democratic concerns in the data presented.
