    Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the shared cultural heritage of Indian languages, stating that they have always accepted each other and enriched each other.

    • His remarks came amid a war of words between the Tamil Nadu government and the Centre over the implementation of the National Education Policy and the three-language formula.

    • Modi emphasized that language embraced every idea and every development, and that every language in the country is seen as a mainstream language.

    • He encouraged education in all languages, including Marathi.

    • The MEA declined to comment on a media report suggesting that USAID funding had been sent to Bangladesh, not India.

    • The Department of Elections and Political Process Strengthening (DOGE) stated that US taxpayer dollars were to be spent on several items, including $486M to the ‘Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening’ (CEPPS), $22M for ‘inclusive and participatory political process’ in Moldova, and $21M for voter turnout in India.
