Iron Age began in T.N. in 4th millennium BCE: Stalin
• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s report suggests iron introduction in Tamil Nadu dates back to the first quarter of the 4th millennium BCE.
• Samples from the Sivagalai site in Thoothukudi district were used.
• The Iron Age began on Tamil soil, with iron usage prominent over 5,300 years ago.
• Experts suggest smelted iron usage could date back to the middle of the third millennium BCE.
