• The study was conducted by entomologists with the Corbett Foundation and Kaziranga’s frontline forest personnel.
• The findings highlight the importance of insect conservation, especially in light of climate change’s potential to accelerate species loss.
• Butterflies and moths accounted for 30% of Kaziranga’s insects, while 40 species of ants, bees, and wasps were recorded.
• The park’s ecological role is highlighted, facilitating seed dispersal, maintaining soil health, and regenerating plants.
• The park is known for its Big Five species, including the Indian rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, wild water buffalo, and eastern swamp deer.
• The reserve has the most one-horned rhinos on earth and the third-highest density of tigers per 100 sq. km.
