Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Bengal did not receive cash from Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, according to the Minister
• Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal received zero funds under the Union Education Ministry’s Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan for the 2024-25 financial year until March 27, according to Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary.
• The funds were allocated to these states but have not been released.
• The Tamil Nadu government has been criticized for refusing to implement the three-language formula under the new National Education Policy and sign a memorandum of understanding on building PM-SHRI schools.
• Uttar Pradesh received the largest allocation of ₹6,971.26 crore, out of which ₹4,487.46 crore has been released till date.
• The withholding of funds is causing significant impacts on teachers’ salaries, RTE reimbursements, and transportation for students in remote areas.
