Kolkata Municipal Corporation Makes Bengali Signboards Compulsory

• Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) mandates all commercial establishments to display Bengali on their signboards alongside other languages.

• The deadline for implementing this mandate is February 21, 2025.

• KMC officials have already communicated with shop, restaurant, and commercial center owners about displaying Bengali signboards.

• Trinamool Congress councillor Biswaroop De proposed that all signboards in public and private offices should include Bengali.

• KMC Mayor Firhad Hakim also urged private agencies and shops to display their signboards in Bengali.
