Lt. Col. O.P.N. Kalyan Completes Arctic Expedition

• Lt. Col. O.P.N. Kalyan, a 76-year-old former Indian Army officer from Bengaluru, completed an Arctic expedition between August 22 and September 1.

• The expedition included a polar plunge in the Arctic Ocean.

• Kalyan, who had always had an ambition to visit Antarctica and the Arctic during his service, was able to fulfill this ambition.

• The expedition began from Longyearbyen in Norway on the Polar Quest ship, with a group of 48 people.

• The expedition was accompanied by Zodiac boats and visited Smeerenburg and Virgohamna Islands.

• The expedition also visited the Nordre Russoya islands, where they saw glaciers, birds, and arctic Foxes.
