• The Legislative Council passed the Maharashtra Special Public Security Bill by majority, despite opposition from the Opposition.
• The Shiv Sena and Congress demanded the Bill be sent back to the Joint Committee and a public meeting to address all objections.
• The Bill was tabled by Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam.
• The Congress and Shiv Sena raised objections about the need for the legislation when laws like UAPA, MCOCA, and PMLA existed.
• The Congress also asked why the law was needed at a time when the Union Home Minister had announced the end of Naxalism.
