Mamata charges the Centre-run DVC of releasing dam water during high rain alert in Bengal

• West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) of endangering the state by discharging 65,000 cusecs of water, increasing flooding risk amid forecasts of heavy rain.

• Banerjee expressed her discontent over the DVC’s action during the festive period of Bijoya Dashami following Durga Puja, calling it an attempt to disrupt the festivities.

• She labeled the DVC’s actions as “shameful and unacceptable,” stating that any resulting disaster would be a man-made calamity.

• Banerjee vowed to protect the people of Bengal from any conspiracies and declared her commitment to resist attempts against them.

• The DVC is a project managed by the Union Ministry of Power, overseeing dams in the Damodar river valley across Jharkhand and West Bengal.
