Manikanta records India’s second-fastest time in the 100 meters

• Manikanta Hoblidhar won the men’s 100m title at the National Open athletics championships with a time of 10.19, setting India’s second-fastest time.

• He equalled his previous meet record of 10.23 in the semifinals.

• Manikanta’s performance was noted for its consistency and confidence, outperforming Pranav Gurav (10.31) and Harsh Raut (10.38).

• The athlete aims for a personal best of 10.10, aspiring to secure an individual medal at the 2026 Asian Games.

• Injuries were reported for athletes Gobika K. and Abinaya Rajarajan during the event.

• Gobika K. won the high jump gold with a height of 1.79m but suffered a serious knee injury afterward.

• Abinaya Rajarajan finished third in the women’s 100m but had a groin issue exacerbated by a prior lung condition.

• Olympian Rajesh Ramesh claimed gold in the 400m with a season-best time of 45.75.

• Manav R. retained his gold medal in the men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 13.97.

• Other notable winners included Sunil Dawar in the 1500m, Kirpal Singh in discus, and Usaid in decathlon.

• The women’s 100m was won by Sneha S.S. with a time of 11.62, with other events yielding competitive results.
