Maoist Leader’s Surrender in Telangana

• Pothula Padmavathi, a senior-most leader of the banned CPI (Maoist), surrendered to the Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana.

• Padmavathi was a Central Committee Member, Secretariat Member, South Sub-Zonal Bureau Secretary, and in-charge of Janathana Sarkar.

• She was married to Maoist leader Mallojula Koteshwar Rao, who was killed by security forces in 2011.

• DGP Jitender viewed her surrender as a moral victory for Telangana’s comprehensive policy against the CPI.
