Maratha Quota Activist Warns Mahayuti Constituents of Election Impact

• Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil warns the ruling Mahayuti community that the community will face a “betrayer” in the upcoming elections if its demand for reservation is not met.

• Jarange-Patil’s movement continues until every Maratha eligible for benefits is included in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.

• The government resolution enabling Marathas with documentary proof of Kunbi lineage to claim benefits under the OBC category has sparked unrest among OBC groups and within the ruling alliance.

• Advocate Yogesh Kedar, one of Jarange-Patil’s close aides, accused the government of “misleading the community” and dismissed the GR as “a complete sham.”

• The Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh ended its six-day hunger strike in Nagpur after OBC Welfare Minister Atul Save assured agitators that their quota would remain untouched.

• Opposition remains sceptical, with State Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal accusing the government of “pitting Marathas and OBCs against each other” and demanding a caste-based census.

• The State government has formed two committees to examine OBC concerns over quota for Marathas and ensure justice for both communities.
