Meghalaya welcomes filmmakers with perks

• Meghalaya has launched a new policy to attract film shoots, promoting itself as a preferred destination.

• The policy offers ₹1 crore in financial support to production houses that shoot 75% of their content in the state, regardless of the language.

• An additional ₹50 lakh will be available for productions that involve local artists, musicians, and talent.

• Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma reported positive feedback from the film industry regarding the policy during a media round-table.

• Initial benefits will be granted to the first eight to ten films, with a potential for extension based on the initiative’s success.

• The state is also focusing on promoting the concert economy, which yielded ₹133.42 crore from an investment of ₹23.50 crore last year, demonstrating a strong return and job creation.
