  • Migrant Worker’s Father Challenges Deportation to Bangladesh

    • Father of 19-year-old Amir Sheikh, a migrant worker from Malda district in West Bengal, challenges the deportation of his son to Bangladesh.

    • Sheikh alleges that his son was unlawfully detained in Rajasthan and later sent to Bangladesh.

    • He has filed a habeas corpus petition seeking judicial intervention to bring his son back.

    • The family claims that Amir was held in a detention camp for nearly two months despite showing his Aadhaar Card and birth certificate as proof of Indian citizenship.

    • The move follows similar petitions filed by two other families in the Paikar area of Murarai in Birbhum district.

    • The West PRESS TRUST OF INDIA, KOLKATA Bengal government intervened in June, bringing back four youths from Murshidabad, one from Purba Bardhaman, and a couple from North 24 Parganas.
