Modi meets Crown Prince in Jeddah

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Jeddah for a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia.

• He will hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to strengthen the friendship between the two countries.

• Modi’s aircraft is escorted by F-15s of the Royal Saudi Air Force in Saudi airspace, seen as a deepening of defence cooperation.

• The Prime Minister and the Crown Prince will co-chair the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council.

• The visit is expected to result in the signing of at least six memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

• Modi will also discuss issues related to Haj, including the quota for Indian pilgrims.

• Agreements are expected to be signed in space, energy, health, science and research, culture, and advanced technology.
