Muslim Organizations Support Supreme Court’s Ruling on Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Act
• Muslim bodies, including Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, have welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the validity of the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Act, 2004.
• Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani hailed the ruling as a “victory for justice” and a “much-needed light at the end of the tunnel”.
• The ruling affirms constitutional principles protecting religious minorities and their educational institutions, reinforcing the State’s obligation to enable these institutions to impart both religious and secular education without compromising their identity.
• The ruling serves as a critical response to ongoing negative campaigns against madrasas by certain communal forces.
• Both bodies reiterated the judgment as a victory of secularism and defeat of “evil communal designs”.
