    Myanmar-Mizoram Border Conflict: Refugee Crisis

    • A battle between two ethnic armed groups in Myanmar has forced 4,000 Chin people to flee to Mizoram.

    • Refugees have been crossing a border bridge at Zokhawthar and the Tiau river since the gunfights broke out on July 3.

    • Refugees are taking shelter in relatives’ homes, schools, and community halls, mainly in Zokhawthar and Vaphai villages.

    • Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma’s political adviser, Dalmuanpuia Punte, visited the border area to discuss violence cessation.

    • The Chins of Myanmar and Mizos of Mizoram are members of the greater Zo community, which is common in these ethnic groups.

    • The refugees started trickling in after observing armed men’s movement near the border.
