Nagaland Tribes Delay Governor’s Swearing-In

• Five Nagaland tribes declined an invitation to attend the gubernatorial swearing-in ceremony in Kohima.

• Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla is scheduled to take additional charge of Nagaland on Monday.

• The tribes, including the Angami Public Organisation, Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, Rengma Hoho, and Sumi Hoho, have been demanding a review of the reservation policy.

• The tribes also criticized a State Cabinet decision to form a seven-member Job Reservation Commission, which they claim favors 10 “backward” Naga tribes.

• The tribes will maintain their policy of non-participation until further orders are issued and concerns about the Commission’s composition are addressed.
