National Conference (NC) Wins Rajya Sabha Seats in Jammu & Kashmir

• NC wins three Rajya Sabha seats in Jammu & Kashmir, while BJP wins one seat.

• BJP wins the fourth seat by gaining 32 votes despite having 28 legislators in the J&K Assembly.

• NC leaders, former Ministers Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, and party treasurer Gurwinder Singh Oberoi, won the seats.

• BJP’s State president Sat Sharma won the fourth seat, defeating NC candidate Imran Nabi Dar who polled 22 votes.

• NC viewed the win as a victory of the Omar Abdullah government’s policies and rejection of the special status era in 2019.

• BJP accused the party of “horse trading” and claimed all resources were used to win the seat.

• NC’s votes remained intact, with no cross-voting from any MLAs.

• The NC was supported by the Congress, PDP, Awami Ittehad Party, and CPI(M).
