    • One case of NB.1.8.1 and four instances of LF.7 variant detected in India, according to Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) data.

    • LF.7 and NB.1.8 subvariants are classified as Variants Under Monitoring by WHO, but are driving the rise in COVID-19 cases in China and parts of Asia.

    • JN.1 is the most common variant in India, accounting for 53% of tested samples.

    • As of May 19, India had 257 active COVID-19 cases.

    • Localized increases reported in several regions.
